Description: Valganciclovir (RS-79070-194; RS-079070-194) is the L-valyl ester prodrug of ganciclovir which is an antiviral agent. As a prodrug for ganciclovir, Valganciclovir exists as a mixture of two diastereomers. Unver in vivo conditions, the diastereomers are rapidly converted to ganciclovir by intestinal and hepatic esterases.
