Description: Tropicamide (formerly Ro-17683; Ro 1-7683; trade names Mydral; Mydriafair; Mydriaticum; Mydrum), an approved medication used to dilate the pupil and help with eye examination, is a potent anticholinergic and a muscarinic receptor isoform M4 antagonist with important biological activity. It inhibits M4-muscarinic receptor with an IC50 of 8.0 nM. It is short acting drug for mydriasis and cycloplegia when applied as eye drops.
