Description: Tazobactam (formerly CL298741; YTR830H; Zerbaxa) is a β-lactamase inhibitor approved for us in combination other antibiotics such as Ceftolozane (Zerbaxa) for the treatment of bacterial infections. Tazobactam is also combined with the extended spectrum β-lactam antibiotic piperacillin in the drug piperacillin/tazobactam, one of the preferred antibiotic treatments for nosocomial pneumonia caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

ProtocolIn VitroTazobactam (CL-298741) (5 μg/mL; 18 hours) has bactericidal activity and inhibit the growth of the bacteria in a dose-dependent manner. Tazobactam (CL-298741) (1-10 μg/mL; 6 hours; Prot. vulgaris and M. morgan) inhibits various types β-lactamase activity and with ID50 values of < 10 μg/mL, respectively.
In VivoTazobactam (CL-298741) (1000 mg/kg; i.p.; four times a day, for 36 and 84 hours; BALB/c mice) decreases the number of bacteria in mice and survived in low doses.

Method for preparing DMSO master liquid: mg drug pre-dissolved in µL DMSO(Master liquid concentration mg/mL) ,Please contact us first if the concentration exceeds the DMSO solubility of the batch of drug.
Method for preparing in vivo formulation: Take µL DMSO master liquid, next add µL PEG300, mix and clarify, next add µL Tween 80,mix and clarify, next add µL ddH2O,mix and clarify.
Note:
  • (1) Please be sure that the solution is clear before the addition of next solvent. Dissolution methods like vortex, ultrasound or warming and heat may be used to aid dissolving.
  • (2) Be sure to add the solvent(s) in order.
