Description: Talampanel (also known as LY300164; LY-300164 and GYKI-53773) is a novel, potent, orally bioavailable and selective α-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionate (AMPA) receptor antagonis with anti-seizure activity. It is also a glutamate receptor inhibitor. Talampanel (IVAX) has neuroprotective effects in rodent stroke models. Talampanel attenuates caspase-3 dependent apoptosis in mouse brain. Talampanel (GYKI 53405) was being investigated for the treatment of epilepsy, malignant gliomas and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS).
