Description: Etanercept (Enbrel) is a novel and potent tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor with anti-inflammatory and immunmodulatory effects. It has been approved for use in adults to prevent joint damage caused by rheumatoid arthritis/RA, psoriatic arthritis, and/or ankylosing spondylitis. It is a dimeric fusion protein that act as a TNF blocker/inhibitor by competitively blocking/inhibiting the binding of TNF-α and TNF-β to TNF receptors in cell surface.
