Description: Insulin (human) is an endogenous/naturally occurring polypeptide hormone produced in the pancreas. Its main role is to regulate sugar levels by allowing cells throughout the body to uptake glucose (sugar) and convert it into a form that can be used by these cells for energy. Basically, insulin helps remove sugar from the blood. This helps lower the blood sugar levels. You may need to take insulin if your pancreas is not making enough, e.g. those people living with type 1 diabetes.
