Description: Virginiamycin S1 is a novel, potent and naturally occurring cyclic hexadepsipeptide antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis at the level of aminoacyl-tRNA binding and peptide bond formation. Virginiamycin S1 is produced by Streptomyces virginiae, and shows a strong bactericidal activity against a wide range of Gram-positive bacteria. Effective in treat multidrug-resistant bacterial infections.
